The Steelers Secure Their Quarterback Depth Chart: Signing Kyle Allen and Dean Lowry

Kyle Allen and Dean Lowry signed by Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers have recently made several moves to solidify their quarterback depth chart. After signing Russell Wilson as their backup and trading for Justin Fields, the team has now acquired their third-string quarterback. General Manager Omar Khan confirmed that the Steelers have signed 28-year-old Kyle Allen, an undrafted rookie who has been in the NFL since 2018.

Kyle Allen entered the league with the Carolina Panthers and has since spent time with Washington, Houston, and Buffalo. He started 12 games for the Panthers in 2019, showing enough potential to remain on NFL rosters as a backup quarterback. With the addition of Allen, the Steelers now have three quarterbacks on their roster, leaving open the possibility of adding a fourth camp arm in the future.

In addition to signing Kyle Allen, the Steelers have also added defensive end Dean Lowry to their roster. Lowry previously played for the Minnesota Vikings and appeared in nine games with four starts last season. These recent acquisitions are part of the Steelers’ plan to bolster their roster and add depth to key positions as they prepare for the upcoming season.

Overall, these moves by the Steelers demonstrate their commitment to building a strong and competitive team for next year’s football season.
