Scarlett Johansson and Jurassic World: A New Era of Action with a Twist

Scarlett Johansson in Discussions to Star in Upcoming ‘Jurassic World’ Film

Scarlett Johansson is being considered for a leading role in Universal’s upcoming Jurassic World movie, set to be released on July 2, 2025. The film is being directed by Gareth Edwards and written by David Koepp, and production is moving at a rapid pace. This will mark Johansson’s return to the world of franchises, as she previously starred as Black Widow in Marvel Studios movies. Despite her success in superhero genre, she has also received critical acclaim with Oscar nominations for Marriage Story and JoJo Rabbit.

The new Jurassic World movie is part of the 30-year old franchise that began with Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park in 1993. The franchise has spawned several sequels over the years, including The Lost World (1997) and Jurassic Park III (2001). However, it was revived by the 2015 film, Jurassic World, which led to further sequels like Fallen Kingdom (2018) and Dominion (2022). Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard have led the most recent trilogy of films, with filmmaker Colin Trevorrow overseeing production. Johansson’s potential involvement in the new movie adds to the star-studded cast of the franchise.
