Jacksonville Arrests Ex-Boyfriend Charged with First-Degree Murder: Tevin Montrell Leach Faced for Killing Felicia Barbee-Battle outside Molly Maid

Man arrested in Jacksonville for fatal shooting of business owner, identified as ex-boyfriend

In Jacksonville, North Carolina, on Monday afternoon, a man wanted for first-degree murder was arrested. Tevin Montrell Leach, 30, was apprehended at approximately 2:30 p.m. Authorities had been searching for Leach in connection with the murder of Felicia Barbee-Battle, 30, outside her place of business, Molly Maid.

On Monday, March 25, 2024, at 8:23 a.m., officers from the Apex Police Department were dispatched to the 1500 block of Beaver Creek Commons Dr in reference to a shooting. When they arrived on the scene, they found Barbee-Battle lying on the ground outside Molly Maid with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite their best efforts to save her life, she was declared dead at the hospital shortly thereafter.

Investigations into the shooting revealed that Tevin Montrell Leach was the suspect in question. He had previously visited Molly Maid and was known to be an ex-boyfriend of Barbee-Battle. On the day of the shooting, Leach convinced Barbee-Battle to step outside with him just moments before gunshots rang out and she tragically succumbed to her injuries.

An arrest warrant for first-degree murder was issued for Tevin Montrell Leach following his apprehension by Jacksonville police department without incident at around 2:30 p.m., Monday afternoon
