From High School Pitcher to MLB Superstar: El Modena’s New Clubhouse Dedicated to Dodgers Star Freddie Freeman

Freddie Freeman’s Clubhouse Unveiled at El Modena High School after Generous $500k Donation from Star Player

The 2024 MLB season is fast approaching, and El Modena High School in Orange, California, where Los Angeles Dodgers star first baseman Freddie Freeman once attended, is preparing for its upcoming baseball season with the help of a new addition to their facilities. The Freddie Freeman Clubhouse was made possible by a generous $500,000 donation from Freeman himself and spans 1,440 square feet.

The clubhouse features amenities such as a locker room, team meeting space with monitors, a coaches’ office, and expanded batting cages. Pictures shared by the Dodgers and Freeman on Instagram offer a glimpse into the clubhouse’s interior design, showcasing the locker room and an impressive mural of Freeman in his El Modena Vanguard uniform. The mural highlights Freeman’s achievements and honors during his time at El Modena High School.

Freeman excelled both at the plate and on the mound during his time at El Modena High School. He played varsity baseball for two seasons and had impressive stats that included a .417 batting average with five home runs and 10 stolen bases while also boasting a 6-1 record on the mound with a 1.27 ERA and 59 strikeouts in 44 innings pitched. He was named Orange County Register’s Player of the Year in 2007 before being drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the second round.

In recent years, El Modena has achieved varying levels of success on the baseball field but now stands tall as a symbol of Freeman’s dedication to his alma mater and the community that supported his early baseball career with this new addition to their facilities.

The Freddie Freeman Clubhouse cost $1.6 million in total, with Freeman’s contribution being the largest single private donation in Orange Unified School District history. The district covered the remaining $1.1 million of expenses.

The new Freddie Freeman Clubhouse is expected to have an immediate impact on El Modena’s baseball program as it provides much-needed space for players to practice and train before games begin.
