Kentucky Science Center hosts exclusive solar eclipse event

On April 8th, the Kentucky Science Center will be hosting a special event in honor of the upcoming solar eclipse. The event will take place from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at their Main Street location. Admission to the event is free, and guests will have access to all of the Kentucky Science Center’s activities across 50,000 square feet of space.

Special programming will be stationed throughout the galleries, including educational sessions on the eclipse, eclipse-viewing safety, gravity, cultural interpretations of eclipses and constellations, and the chance to view the partial eclipse. Guests can also create their own pinhole cameras and stream live coverage of the eclipse from NASA. Additionally, there will be documentary screenings of Journey to Space 3-D, a film about NASA’s Space Shuttle program and the International Space Station.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Kentucky Science Center, Mike Norman, expressed excitement for the event, calling it a once-in-20-years phenomenon. The event is made possible in part by a NASA Kentucky Space Grant. The Kentucky Science Center is located at 727 W. Main Street and is open seven days a week from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.[/
