Podcast: a Multilingual Resource for Early Detection of MS Symptoms

Dr. Jaime Imitola, the director of the UConn Health Multiple Sclerosis Center, discussed the importance of addressing cultural barriers in improving the outcomes of MS patients. During a podcast episode on the UConn Health Pulse, he emphasized that recognizing early signs of MS can greatly impact a patient’s condition 15 years later.

Working with medical students and collaborators from various institutions, Dr. Imitola introduced a new bilingual resource called “VISIBL-MS” to assist patients, providers, and future providers in addressing cultural barriers associated with the disease. The tool aims to facilitate early identification of MS symptoms and timely intervention for improved outcomes.

Dr. Imitola highlighted how working together to overcome cultural obstacles is essential in providing effective care for those affected by MS. He encouraged patients and healthcare professionals to utilize VISIBL-MS as a valuable resource in their efforts to improve patient care and outcomes.
